Hundreds of women from Yarabnagar staged a protest placing an unusual demand to hand over the killers of rowdy-turned-corporator Diwan Ali, so that they can punish them for killing their leader. Ali's family members led the protest, which lasted three hours. "He was a saviour, he was a brother, he was like a god for the residents of Yarab Nagar," cried the protestors.

"We won't take it lying down. The police have just fulfilled a formality by arresting a few men. Mahim, the main accused, is still at large. If the police are incapable of killing them, they should hand them over to us. We will kill them publicly and face any consequences," said a protestor.
The protestors wanted the accused Asgar, Mahim and Afsar be handed over to the public of Yarabnagar. The women were all praises for the corporator. Shabana, another resident said, "I have been living in this area for the past 15 years. We face acute shortage of water supply. It was only after Ali took charge, the water and electricity problems were resolved. He is no more now, and the problems have stared yet again."
Ali's sisters Shahtaj, Munni, Mumtaz, and Parveen also lead the group in the protest and after the city witnessed a total bandh on Saturday, with prohibitory orders imposed across the city till Sunday midnight, Yarabnagar was an exception.
Residents also burnt an effigy of Mahim to express their anger. Additional security, including a KSRP platoon along with the jurisdictional police was deployed to maintain law and order.
Banashankari PI R Govindraju said, "Since these were all women protesters, we were not able to stop them, considering the sensitivity of the case. Our law does not support their demand."
