Videocon Group founder Venugopal Dhoot walked out of Mumbai`s Arthur Road Jail on Friday evening, hours after he was granted interim bail by the Bombay High Court in a loan fraud case. Dhoot was arrested on December 26 last year in the case, in which former ICICI Bank managing director and chief executive officer Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar have also been named as accused. After getting interim bail from the court, his lawyers submitted the release order to the Arthur Road prison authorities, following which Dhoot was released, an official said. (PTI)

Maharashtra on Friday recorded 14 fresh cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 81,37,023, an official from the state health department said. The count of recoveries reached 79,88,488 after 24 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, while the toll remained unchanged at 1,48,420, the official said. (PTI)

Railways in Mumbai will operate blocks on multiple lines on January 22. The Western Railway (WR) on Friday said that to carry out maintenance work of tracks, signaling and overhead equipment, a jumbo block of five hours will be taken on up and down fast lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local) stations from 10:35 hrs to 15:35 hrs on Sunday.
