Palghar: Fire damages plastic goods unit, godowns at industrial complex

Palghar fire officials said the blaze broke out at 8.30 pm on Sunday at enterprise in Achole area and added that no casualties had been reported.

On Monday, a fire broke out at a plastic goods manufacturing company in an industrial complex in Palghar which caused damage to the unit and other nearby establishments, said fire officials. 


Per the PTI report, the officials said that the blaze broke out at 8.30 pm on Sunday at the enterprise in the Achole area and added that no casualties had been reported.


The officials further added that the fire had spread to other units and godowns within the complex. Reportedly, most affected units were in the production and manufacturing of plastic goods and such items intensified the blaze. 


An official from Achole Fire Station told the news agency that the exact number of units and warehouses damaged in the fire is not known yet. The official however added that they had rushed five fire engines to the spot to put out the blaze and that they are conducting a probe to ascertain the cause of the fire in warehouses. 

In another incident recently, a 57-year-old man was injured and 25 to 30 people were rescued when a fire broke out before midnight at a 62-story residential building in south Mumbai's Byculla region, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday.

The fire broke out in a flat on the 10th storey of the Monte South building's A wing at the Khatao Mill Compound in Byculla at 11.42 pm on Saturday, according to the civic body, with smoke filling the entire floor, stated a mid-day report. 

The report stated that some people were stuck on the structure's higher floors. Officials said 25 to 30 individuals were rescued using the stairs. The BMC reported that a man named Pandurang Shinde had been hurt.

According to the official, it was a "level-2" fire that affected the electric wiring and installations, wooden furniture, household articles, wardrobe, mattresses, wooden beds, sofas, curtains, electronic appliances, false ceilings, doors, windows and modular kitchen of the 10th floor flat, as well as curtains, window glass and other items in an 11th-floor apartment. According to the official, eight water tankers and six fire engines were dispatched to the scene, with four hose lines and nine motor pumps in action, the report stated. 

The fire was put out at about 2.45 am. During the firefighting, a refrigerator compressor exploded in the kitchen of the 10th-floor unit, he claimed.
