A six-year-old boy has been reported missing from his home in the Mahape MIDC locality of Navi Mumbai, police said on Friday, reported news agency PTI.


The boy, a resident of Patra Chawl, allegedly left his home to play outside on the evening of November 1, but never returned, an official said, reported PTI.


The family searched the entire neighbourhood and nearby areas, before lodging a complaint with the Rabale MIDC police, he said, reported PTI.


A case of kidnapping has been registered against unidentified persons and a search has been launched for the missing child, the official added, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, two boys were rescued by the police from a railway station within hours of being reported missing from their homes in Thane district, a police officer said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

The police are on the lookout for the third boy who left his home in Kasara town of Shahpur taluka on Monday evening, the police officer said, reported PTI.

Three boys, in the age group of 11 to 14 years, who lived in the same locality left their homes in the evening and didn’t return, reported PTI. 

After a frantic search, the parents lodged a complaint and a case of kidnapping was registered, he said, reported PTI.

Police teams were formed and one of the teams spotted two boys at Khadavli railway station late in the night, the officer said, adding that the children were reunited with their parents, reported PTI.

Earlier, Police on August 28 arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in the toilet of a mall at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, an official told news agency PTI.

The incident took place on Sunday evening when the boy visited the mall with his friends, the official told PTI.

The 25-year-old accused, who is an auto-rickshaw driver, took the boy to a toilet located on the mall's ground fall where he sexually assaulted him, inspector Sanjay Nale from Vashi police station told PTI.

The boy later managed to escape and informed his parents about the incident.

His family approached the police with a complaint and the accused was arrested, the official said.

The accused was booked under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official told PTI.
