The air quality in Mumbai remained in the 'Moderate' category on Sunday, with the Air Quality Index at 139, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)-India.

Notably, Worli area exhibited 'Satisfactory' air quality with an AQI of 75. In contrast, Navi Mumbai recorded a moderate AQI of 139 during the morning hours, Andheri at 104, and Mazagaon at 192, all falling within the 'Moderate' category.

Similarly, Pune recorded a moderate AQI of 156. Pashan and Hadapsar areas in Pune reported 'Satisfactory' air quality.

To combat air quality issues, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) deployed dust suppression vehicles in key locations like Worli Sea Face, Haji Ali, Pedder Road, Girgaum Chowpatty, Nariman Point, Fashion Street, Badhwar Park, and World Trade Centre.

In earlier reports this month, Mumbai had been experiencing 'good' air quality.

Meanwhile, the overall air quality in Delhi on Sunday was recorded in 'Very Poor' category, with the AQI being recorded at 309.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its bulletin on Delhi's Air Quality forecasted predominant surface wind likely from variable directions in Delhi with wind speed 04-08 kmph, resulting in mainly clear sky and mist in the morning on October 29.

Also, coming under the 'Poor' category, the IIT Delhi region recorded an AQI of 300 and in the Mathura Road area, it was recorded at 228. The quality of air at the Airport (T3) was in the 'Very Poor' category, with an AQI of 323.

Similarly, the AQI in Noida and Gurugram on Sunday was recorded at 317 (Very Poor), and 221 (Poor) respectively.

The overall air quality of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur has also plunged into the 'poor' category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 214, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)-India.

After being in the 'moderate' category earlier this week, with an AQI of 166, the air quality has slipped into the 'poor' category.

Visuals from various locations across Kanpur showed a thick fog and haze surrounding parts of the city.

As air quality deteriorates, people have started complaining of facing health problems.

The AQI from 0 to 100 is considered good, while from 100 to 200 it is moderate, from 200 to 300 it is poor, and from 300 to 400 it is said to be very poor and from 400 to 500 or above it is considered as severe. (With inputs from agencies)
