NSCI’s cashier, accused of defrauding the club for Rs 24 lakh for his own benefit, has been arrested by Tardeo Police. The matter came to light when a complainant approached the police station to register a complaint.

Per the police, when the complainant checked the club’saccounts on November 10, he found that a certain amount was missing. He then approached the accused Sumedh Lade and asked him to deposit the amount in his possession; the accused obeyed his orders and paid Rs 5.5 lakh immediately.

When the complainant asked the accused to deposit the remaining amount to the club’s bank account, he did not give any satisfactory answers. He allegedly made excuses, claiming he was waiting for his colleague who had the locker’s key, later bluffing that the amount had been stolen by unknown robbers.

When approached by the complainant, the head of staff, Mohan Gidwan, stated that Lade took out some money for himself.  When Lade confessed to have used the money for his own expenses, the complainant approached the police station. He was booked under Section 407 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him.
