On Tuesday, a 32-year-old man was apprehended by Maharashtra police for allegedly molesting a female co-passenger during a flight from Pune to Nagpur, operated by a private airline, as confirmed by an official.

According to a report in PTI, the purported incident transpired on Monday, involving the accused, identified as Feroze Shaikh, a resident of the Kondhwa locality in Pune, who works as an engineer. The complainant, a 40-year-old woman from Chandrapur, was en route to Nagpur to attend the final rites of her deceased father, according to an official from the Sonegaon police station.
The alleged perpetrator reportedly made unwanted advances towards the woman shortly after the aircraft landed at Nagpur airport. A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, who happened to be on board the flight, promptly intervened and restrained Shaikh. Subsequently, the CISF member reported the incident to the local police, the report further stated.
Shaikh has been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 354 (pertaining to assaulting or using criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), Section 354 (a) (related to sexual harassment), and Section 509 (addressing any word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). An ongoing investigation is underway to gather more details and evidence related to the case.
Man molests woman in Bhandup, gets thrashed
Recently, Bhandup Police booked a man for molesting a woman after entering into her house. The incident happened in Bhandup's Ramabai Nagar. The police identified the man as Bharat Ghadge, 42, a rickshaw driver. Reportedly, Ghadge had entered a house and molested a woman.
However, when the woman's neighbour heard about the incident, they allegedly beat him up. The group had also verbally and physically abused him. Reportedly, a video was also shot in which Ghadge was seen in a semi-nude condition while he was being beaten up and verbally abused. The police booked four of the aggressors as well.
While Ghadge was booked under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to outrage woman’s modesty), 509 (an act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 448 (trespassing) of the Indian Penal Code; his aggressors were booked under IPC Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 34 (common intention).
