Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced on Tuesday that the Mahayuti alliance, comprising the ruling BJP, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), has set ambitious electoral goals. The alliance aims to secure more than 45 Lok Sabha seats out of 48 in the state and 225 assembly segments in the upcoming elections, according to a report in PTI.

Speaking to reporters in Thane while discussing the BJP's Jansamvad Yatra, Bawankule revealed, "The Mahayuti has set a target of winning 45 plus seats in Maharashtra. The BJP will deploy its full strength in all 48 Lok Sabha constituencies to ensure the maximum votes for Mahayuti candidates."

When asked about the formula to be adopted for the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Maharashtra, he told PTI, "The BJP will strive to ensure that every Mahayuti candidate emerges victorious. However, the scenario may vary in civic or local body elections such as corporations or zilla parishads."

Bawankule expressed confidence in Mahayuti's electoral prospects, stating, "Mahayuti will have 225 MLAs in the next assembly in Maharashtra and 45 MPs from the state in the Lok Sabha in 2024. We have made preparations."

He also mentioned that leaders of the Mahayuti alliance, along with representatives from 11 other constituents, will determine the seat-sharing arrangements for the Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. These arrangements will then be reviewed by the central parliamentary board of the BJP. The primary goal is to ensure the victory of Mahayuti candidates, regardless of the specific seats they contest.

Bawankule earlier today also spoke on the Maratha reservation. He said that a decision to be taken by the state government on the issue would be agreeable to activist Manoj Jarange and that it wouldn't affect other sections. He alleged that the community lost reservation due to to "incompetency" of the former chief minister, taking a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray.

"The state government will take such a decision on the reservation for Marathas that it will be agreeable to activist Manoj Jarange and at the same time it won't affect other sections," Bawankule told reporters.

He said decisions finalised during a meeting between Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and representatives of people on the Maratha quota issue will be implemented accordingly, reported PTI.
