The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers will connect with every resident of villages that will be covered under the BJP's 'gaon chalo' campaign, a mass outreach programme for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Friday, reported the PTI.

Talking to reporters after addressing a party meeting, Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP workers will fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directive of connecting to the last person in society, as per the PTI.

It will be a record as BJP functionaries would have reached and interacted with 100 per cent villagers under the campaign, he said, adding the party has done it earlier and will start afresh again, according to the news agency.

Queried about his meeting with BJP president JP Nadda in Delhi on Thursday, Devendra Fadnavis said that it was to get guidelines for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls and alliances.

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi will be conferred with the coveted 'Shiv Samman Award'.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated PM Modi and said that it was a moment of happiness and pride.

"The "Shiv Samman Award," given by the royal family in the name of India's illustrious and ideal Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has been announced to be given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi this time," Devendra Fadnavis posted on X on Wednesday.

He further said, "It is a moment of happiness and pride for all Shiva devotees. Hearty congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

The award is instituted by the Satara royal family and Shiv-bhakts and would be conferred at a grand ceremony at the Sainik School Ground.

Earlier, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis was conferred an honorary doctorate by Japan's Koyasan University, reported news agency PTI.

The university conferred the doctorate on Devendra Fadnavis to recognise his efforts in creating basic civic infrastructure, implementing schemes such as the Jalyukta Shivar Yojana, and his contribution to the industrial development of the state, reported PTI.

In his acceptance speech at the event held in south Mumbai in the evening,  Devendra Fadnavis said that he dedicated the honour to the people of Maharashtra.
