Appreciating the article 'It's embarrassing to enter a brothel', published by MiD DAY on February 23, the census in-charge and Additional Municipal Commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar claimed that the training imparted by Bombay Teen Challenge, the NGO roped in to assist in the task, helped greatly in gathering accurate information from the initially-reluctant sex workers.

Mhaiska, said, "It is the reciprocal duty of each citizen to provide correct information.

Through our experience we learnt that since the teachers had been trained to handle the sex workers delicately while gathering information, the workers, in turn, were comfortable while providing the actual facts."

"One has to realise that the entire city needs to be enumerated and peculiarities of areas should not be seen as boundaries.

Whether dealing with prostitutes or homeless people, the entire population will be enumerated, and Kamathipura is just one such area among many," she said.
