Guitarist, dancer, lawn tennis enthusiast, chatterbox and extrovert. Sixteen-year-old Bhavi Desai seemed like the very antithesis of a suicidal student,as reported in the Times of India.

And yet, she did the unthinkable when she jumped off the terrace of her building on March 16 after being caught with a chit in her hand before an SSC exam.

"Bhavi was the most fun-loving person I ever met. She loved dancing and was good at both dandiya and hip-hop," says a friend of hers, who prefers to remain anonymous.

"Bhavi used to live life to the fullest. She was such a chatterbox that teachers would often shift her from the back bench to the front bench to keep her quiet."

Everybody in school knew and liked Bhavi. In fact, during the Marathi exam, which was the day after Bhavi's death, many students were so shaken they cried. Teachers and exam supervisors urged students to give the exam their best shot in memory of Bhavi, since she herself would not be writing the exam.

Students wept their way through the Marathi paper, especially since a question on letter-writing mentioned the surname Desaiu2014Bhavi's surname. "The exam supervisor did her best to calm everyone during the paper,'' says her friend. While many of her classmates found out about her death on Monday, those who heard of it on Tuesday morning, just before the Marathi paper, had a tough time concentrating on their exams.

Bhavi took the lead in planning movies and outings for her group of friends. In fact, she was to make the plans on how to celebrate the last day of the Class X examsu2014a day she never lived to see.

Instead of celebrating, her friends remembered her as they stood talking outside the school gates for an hour after the last exam paper.
