In an unfortunate incident on Saturday morning, Vijayahsree Sistla, 51, died after falling from her fifth floor residence at Napean Sea Road. The wife of senior RBI officer Prabhakar Sistla, was a resident of Vasant Vihar.

According to the police who received a call at 9.05 am on Saturday, Sistla lost her balance while watering plants in her balcony and fell to her death. Her family, which includes a daughter and son, were at home at the time and discovered the accident after they heard a loud crash.


The police took Sistla to JJ Hospital. She was declared dead on arrival and a post-mortem was conducted. Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni confirmed the incident.

A police officer from the Malabar Hill police station said that a building employee had told the police that this was the second such incident in the building. The police have registered a case of accidental death.
