The decomposed body of a 27-year-old Tuberculosis patient who was missing for 14 days was found lying on the floor of a Mumbai hospital.

According to a report on India Today, Suryabhan Yadav's body was discovered from a locked toilet after a ward boy noticed the foul smell. The hospital staff then informed the police.

The hospital revealed that the deceased was also a patient of COVID-19 and his death seems to be “natural”.

"It appears to be a natural death. The patient was Covid-19 positive and had Tuberculosis," the hospital's administrative staff said. They said the patient could have died due to breathing problems while he was in the toilet.

The staff added that a missing complaint was filed on October 4.

The police said an accidental death report (ADR) has been registered at the RAK Marg police station.

"We will call hospital staffers for questioning to understand how this happened. We will found out how the body went unnoticed inside the hospital for so many days," a senior police inspector of RAK Marg police station, Sunil Sohoni, told India Today TV.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has slammed Maharashtra government and BMC for “crude behaviour.”

"I visited TB Hospital Shivadi, met Dean Dr Lalit Anande, Police Inspector Shashikant Bhat. 27-year-old Suryabhan Yadav, who is a Covid patient, was admitted on September 30. The hospital declared him absconding on October 4. His body was found on October 18 in the hospital toilet. What was BMC and Maha government doing," Kirit Somaiya tweeted.

"BMC TB Hospital Shivadi Records says Suryabhan Yadav admitted 30 Sept as COVID/TB Patient. Found Missing 4 Oct. Deadbody found 18 Oct. BMC, Hospital did Nothing to trace Patient, No Police Complaint, No Info to Relatives. CRUDE behaviour (See Hospital Monitoring Computer Screen)," Kirit Somaiya said in another tweet.
