His body was then dumped on the road. Singh was found the following day with his throat slit, injuries to his stomach and other parts of his body.
He was a resident of Sai Nagar, Ghodbunder Road in Thane. Police said he was employed as a driver with Alfa Express in Powai and was driving an Indica when he went missing on March 1 during a scheduled drop.
“In the wee hours of the same day, we found the body on the road at an isolated place near the Mira-Bhayandar creek. There were several wounds to the body. Also his wallet, mobile phone, money and identification card were missing and hence identifying the body became difficult,” said PSI Vilas Mate of Kashimira police station.
A few days later, police officials from Powai police station inquired with Kashimira police about a missing Indica.
During the conversation, they also informed their counterparts about the driver who went missing after dropping the last passenger in Vasai. Kashimira police then called the relatives of the missing Indica driver to identify the dead body.
“Once the family members saw the body, they identified him as Singh. We then learnt from them that Singh was missing for several days. We have registered a murder case,” added Mate.
“The Indica has not yet been located. We suspect robbery as the motive,” said Mate.
