Dismiss minister over felicitation from Dawood man: BJP MLA

Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Naseem Khan should be dismissed from the Congress-NCP government in the state for allegedly accepting felicitation from an associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, a BJP legislator demanded in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

"Khan has accepted felicitation from Asif Dadhi who is a known Dawood man. He should be expelled from the ministry," BJP MLA Devendra Phadanvis said.

"On one hand, police brave bullets from Dawood gangsters and on the other, the minister who handles police department accepts felicitation from the gangster's aide," Phadanvis said.

"How is the country going to remain secure through such actions," the BJP MLA said, speaking on the supplementary demands of the Home Department.

The felicitation function took place on March 16 near the State government's Sir JJ Hospital, Phadanvis said and submitted what he said were photographs of the function, to the presiding officer.

Dawood's sister Haseena Parkar was also present at the function, he accused.

Dadhi is engaged in hawala racket and police have so far taken action against him twice under MCOCA, the BJP legislator said.
