On the 53rd death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on December 6, 2009, 4 to 5 lakh people are expected to gather at Chaityabhoomi. Security is tighter than before. One thousand security personnel will look after security on Sunday as compared to 600 as on earlier occasions. This day also marks the Babri Masjid demolition and as no action has been taken on the Liberhan report, Gujarat is already on high alert.

Police Inspector S P Bhavar of Shivaji Park Police Station, said, "The meeting was held between the committees representing the Jayanti, BMC and the police. They told us that more people were expected this year."

Policemen with binoculars will watch the crowd from the top of buildings surrounding Chaityabhoomi.

Police officers from all over the city, SRPF platoons, Right Control Police etc have been guarding Chaityabhoomi.
The crowd, which normally comes on December 4 and leaves by December 7, has been streaming in since December 2. About a lakh are here already.

Metal detectors will be used for security checks. An ambulance from each government hospital will be stationed with medical services.

Two pandals measuring up to 3 lakh sq ft will accommodate lakhs of devotees. More than 500 mobile toilets have been provided. The BMC has made electricity arrangements and there will be continuous water supply.
