Cash, gold worth Rs 40 lakh seized

The MRA Marg police arrested three people Vishnubhai Patel (45), Upendra Kumar Patel (21), and Praveen Kumar Patel (29) with Rs 40 lakh of unaccounted cash and ornaments yesterday.

"The three were travelling with two bags in a taxi when they were apprehended by the police during a nakabandi," said DCP Zone 1 Vishwas Nagre Patil.

He added, "We found Rs 31 lakh in cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 3.49 lakh and other jewellery worth Rs 5.50 lakh in the bags."

Police and income tax officials are investigating the matter.
