DCP (Cyber Crime), Sachin Patil confirmed the development and said the investigation is on. A police source said that the complainant told police that the singer was spreading a lie about the murder of a techie, Swati in Chennai, calling it love-jihaad on Twitter.
When the complainant informed Mumbai Police and brought their attention to his tweets asking them to immediately arrest him for spreading a lie and making communal statements, he made obscene and defamatory comments against her as well.
Few days ago a complaint was filed against Bhattacharya at the Vasant Vihar police station, after he allegedly used obscene and vulgar language for a senior Delhi journalist on Twitter.
