Akshay Kumar can finally vote

Actor Akshay Kumar was among the 55 per cent of Mumbaikars who did not vote in the Lok Sabha elections on April 30.

But he will vote on October 13 after getting himself registered on www.mumbaicityelection.org.

In the last 60 days, more than 38,000 people have registered themselves on the site, including Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Kim Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Neha Dhupia, Sachin Tendulkar and Dia Mirza.

The project was initiated nearly two months ago only for the island city. But after an overwhelming response, the service was made available to the suburbs as well.

N P Jadhav, suburban deputy collector, agreed that the response for the online registration was good.

This system also minimises the chances of errors, as all inputs are keyed in by the applicant himself.
