Thane (Maharashtra): After a bitter war of words, allies Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party will now join hands to administer Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation in Thane, around 60 km north of Mumbai.

State BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said BJP minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and Shiv Sena minister Eknath Shinde would meet to finalise the deal late Friday.

The BJP and Shiv Sena forging an alliance comes following a meeting between BJP state president Raosaheb Danve and senior Sena leader and minister Shubhash Desai after the November 1 election results.

After the elections to the 122-member KDMC, the Shiv Sena emerged as the largest group with 52 seats and BJP with 42 seats, both far away from the magic figure of 61.

Presently, both parties have staked claim to the KDMC mayor's post.

MNS, which has 9 seats, and had earlier claimed that it wouldn't join hands with Shiv Sena, has now issued a statement that it won't support anyone.

The Congress-Nationalist Congress Party joined hands to run the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation earlier this week.
