'Below my dignity to sing for Bhatts'

Abhijeet lashes out at Bhatts for 'illegally' bringing in 'useless' Pak artists, taking away jobs from 'talented' Indian musicians

Singer Abhijeetu00a0 lashed out against Pakistani singers for infiltratingu00a0 the Indian music industry andu00a0 also lambasted the Bhatt's in an interview with MiDu00a0 DAY on Friday from Singapore, where he is performing at concerts.

"I have been retaliating against the influx of Pakistani artists without a valid work permit in our film and music industry. Producers and singers should be tried in court for working without work permitsu00a0 in India. This is a big crime they have been committing since years. There are extremely talented singers in our country who are jobless, but the Bhatts are promoting singers and actorsu00a0 from Pakistan who are useless and nowhere compared to their Indian counterparts."

Pooja Bhatt said,u00a0 "It is tragic that Abhijeet chooses to make a connection between the Bhatts giving a platform to artists from Pakistan and David Headley.

This view is myopic and delusional. Music and cinema has no boundaries and artists are not meant to let politics colours their art. This mindset is dangerous and no different from the mindset that bans Parzania and pulls down Tum Mile from theaters.u00a0

He added: "I have refused to sing for the Bhatts as it is below my dignity to be associated with people who are probably 'agents for Pak artists'. There is a difference between promoting a culture and promoting a profession. Their 'mental recession' is visible from their line of flop films that are mere copies of Hollywood films and tunes taken from anywhere and everywhere."

Abhijeet cleared the fact that he did not want to talk about the Bhatts and David Headley connection. "I did not blame Rahul Bhatt; it's the media that has brought out a possible terror link. For the Bhatts it's a case ofu00a0 'you reap what you sow'."

Once that contact was made, Headley ignored Warak, Intelligence sources said.

"After Kargil and numerous terror attacks and now 26/11 do we want to still dance and sing to their tunes? Would the family's massacred innocent victims sing the song and forget the wounds? I have the guts to stand for what I have been screaming my lungs out for,"u00a0 said an angry Abhijeet. "I am a true son of the soil who will fight for his motherland."

Implying he wasn't insecure about work, he said: " I have survived in this industry for what I am. I have built an empire that many filmy people can't even dream of. Because of that I am surviving among hypocrites and rotten industry-wallas."
