The 76-year-old man who had shot his daughter-in-law in Thane has been arrested. According to Rabodi police, accused Kashinath Patil spent the night in an auto in Kausa, Mumbra. He had planned to run away in a MSRTC bus but after finding the police, he surrendered to them on Saturday night.

The incident which cost the life of a 42-year-old woman in Thane could have been averted had her family gone to the police the previous day. According to a statement from family members, Patil had flashed his weapon of choice to his daughter-in-law a day prior to the incident. He had threatened her saying, “Do you see this? I can teach you a lesson with this.”
On the morning of April 14, Seema Patil and her father-in-law had an argument at breakfast, as he wanted to eat something with his tea. When she argued, an enraged Kashinath shot her in the stomach.
