The Sakinaka Police in Mumbai announced on Sunday that they had arrested a 22-year-old man from the city who was allegedly involved in a murder case in Bihar.

According to police sources, the man, identified as Navin Kumar Ranjan, was allegedly involved in the murder of Prem Paswan, a property dealer in Bihar. The murder occurred in broad daylight in January of this year. Four bike-borne shooters had fired several rounds at Prem Paswan, who was traveling with a friend to inspect a property. His friend had also sustained injuries in the shootout that took place at Mahuli Village in Patna.

The police sources said that Paswan had sustained multiple bullet injuries, while his friend was also injured in the incident. Paswan was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The Parsa Bazar Police in Patna, Bihar, had registered a murder case against the culprits and had been on the lookout for the suspects since January.

The police said that on September 1, Inspector Suhas Kade from Sakinaka Police Station received information about a suspect who had been living within the jurisdiction of Sakinaka Police for several days. Upon receiving the information, Kade formed a special team to detain the suspect and interrogate him. On Friday, the police detained Ranjan for questioning, and investigations revealed his alleged involvement in the Prem Paswan murder case.

"We verified the facts that had come up during the primary investigations, and it was found that the suspect was involved in the murder case. Moreover, the Bihar police had also been looking for the suspect," an official said.

The police stated that during his interrogations, Navin told the police that he had allegedly been on the run for the past 8 months and had arrived in Mumbai just 10 days before. He had been living in a dormitory at Andheri-Ghatkopar link road within the jurisdiction of Sakinaka Police.

"The Bihar Police have been informed about the accused being apprehended by the Mumbai Police, and he will be handed over to the Parsa Bazar Police in Bihar for further legal action," the official said.
