A 17-year-old girl has been booked by Bhayandar police on Friday for allegedly posting her 14-year-old friend’s obscene photos on a social media site along with her phone number as an act of revenge.

Police officers said the two teenagers had gone out to the mangroves at Jesal Park, Bhayander East on November 11 and were late. The accused failed to pick up the call from the victim’s father, following which he complained to the accused’s father, which led to him slapping the accused upon her return.

Following this, the teen hatched a plan to take revenge and created a profile in the name of the 14-year-old on a social media site and posted morphed photos with her face in compromising positions with a boy. She also posted her contact number. The victim’s father found out about the profile and learnt that the 17-year-old was behind this. He then approached the Bhayandar police and lodged a complaint.

“We have registered a case under section 500 (defamation) of the IPC and various sections of the IT Act. Further investigation is on. A notice has been served to the accused girl’s parents,” said an officer from Bhayander police station.
