The mechanic used to ask for payment of the bill, but the actor abused him over the phone and personally, and also threatened him, said Ravindra Badgujar, senior inspector of the Versova police station.

The complainant Moshin Kadar Rajapkar in his written complaint informed Versova Police "On March 10, 2017, Aditya Pancholi had called me for the servicing of his car  - Land Cruiser and asked me to come to his home as I know him personally. On May 18, I checked his car which wasn't working at all so I took the car to a service center at Juhu but due to lack of some equipment, the servicing wasn't possible. Later, I transported the car to Delhi for proper maintenance. The car was transported back to Mumbai in February 2018 after the maintenance work was done, which cost me around Rs 2.80 lakh. I took the car to his residence where he misbehaved with me also used foul language over a phone."

Rajapkar told mid-day that the Versova Police refused to register an FIR only NC was registered in the matter despite having all the evidence." An officer from Versova, however, said "A case of non cognisance was registered at Versova police station and we are investigating the matter."

When contacted Aditya Pancholi, the actor told mid-day "These are false allegations. I have made all the payments and I have bank statements. In fact, Rajapkar kept my car for one year for no reason."

Non-cognisable offence refers to an offence in which the police have no authority to apprehend a person for crime on their own. Under this law, the police require a warrant to arrest an accused and a court's prior approval to begin investigation.
