A cafe and wine bar in Bandra will host its first film screening tonight where the audience will also get to interact with the filmmaker
A moment from Occupied
A refreshing drink in one hand, some yummy snacks in another, and an engaging movie night is what we crave after a long, busy day. Bandra venue Loci and Toot, a European fare-themed café and wine bar, has something similar planned with their first screening of Occupied. The short film directed by Pranav Pingle, is a five-part series shot in Palestine that will expose the viewer to a blend of music, art, and poetry while featuring singers and poets. It is a story about young Palestinians and their celebration of life, love and loss, with a singular belief at its core — in the end, love always wins.

This premiere is helmed by Face to Face — an organisation launched by three film lovers — and is devoted to screening short films in an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity, debate, and resolution-seeking truth. After winning awards in Athens and touring Rhode Island, Brussels and Berlin, this will be Occupied’s first screening in Mumbai.
Filmmaker Pingle is flying down from Hyderabad for the event to be part of an engaging post-screening Q&A session with the audience. “Our work has always tackled developmental, human rights, and socio-political issues with the deftness and sensitivity they deserve, and we will continue to do so. We hope to bring more of such stories to the world,” shares Pingle. Loci and Toot has in the past hosted interactive sessions such as couples’ nights and cocktail auctions. Shivam Sidhwa, manager of the venue, mentions that they plan to host more screenings in the future, provided they are stand out from the rest. The audience can sip on a free mocktail or cold coffee while munching on some healthy jowar popcorn.
