"I really liked studying mathematics. I also wanted to do engineering after high school, but I hated chemistry," he reveals in a 48-minute podcast. However, the studious lad chose to write songs instead.

This is the story of Prateek Kuhad, the singer/songwriter from New Delhi who has created his own space in the Indie music scene. In fact, his success story serves as inspiration to many artistes.

Mae Thomas (a former RJ), who started Maed in India, India’s first podcast on Indie music, had a freewheeling chat with the singer on odd jobs in his initial days and his struggle before music came to the rescue. "I was working at a consulting firm, and I hated it. I also thought of working with start-ups, but later, I thought I should just do music. I thought I would try it for a year. I still don’t know if I am going to do this forever," confesses Kuhad. Not many are aware that Pyaasa (1957), the Guru-Dutt starrer, inspired him to pen lyrics in Hindi. "I have grown up listening to Lucky Ali, Strings and Euphoria," he says.

In between sharing anecdotes and discussing his work, he also plays unplugged versions of some of his popular songs, like Tonight and Flames. This is a must-hear for fans of Indie music.
