Fans of Lewis who have been waiting for him to release a new album can look forward to listening to tracks from his new Dance album, which he tells us takes off from where he left some time back, when he did Rahul and I with Asha Bhosle. “This is going to be the first public performance for my new album featuring GenX and at the same time I will do some of my own songs, which will be done in my own style with my band. Lesle Lewis featuring GenX is a very special album as featuring these artists together on one album is a very difficult task,” he says. GenX features the children of veteran music artistes Hariharan, L Subramanium, Mahadevan and Loy Mendonsa.

Festival Director, Lavin Uthappa informs us, “This year, we’ve added yet another stage — bringing us to five stages namely, Plug N Play, World Music, Electronica, Singer- Songwriter and Camp Jam stages. We have also extended the festival by another day. As far as the programming at Storm Festival is concerned, our mainstage is dedicated to Folk/ Fusion genres.”

When we asked Mahadevan about the popularity of festivals in India today, he says, “It is absolutely. I’ve been to several festivals abroad and it’s festivals that make for a great experience for musicians and patrons alike. I’m happy to have found out one such festival at home.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that India has a festival where music lovers can camp-out amidst tight security, there’s a strong check on drug abuse. Everything is so well organised.”

From: January 31 to February 2
