Shriram Iyer's book Wings of Silence, tells a tale of courage and hope through the life of a deaf boy whose aim is to run in the Olympics

After four years of research and talking to many deaf children, Shriram Iyer penned down his debut novel Wings of Silence. With the conclusion of the 2012 Olympics just a few days ago, Iyer felt there could not have been a better time to release his novel, which is about a boy whose aim is to run inu00a0the Olympics.u00a0“I met a lot of deaf kids and players to understand their view of life. Their struggle made me look at life in a different way completely,” reveals Iyer.u00a0

The story is about Saurav Sethi, teenage prodigy and future tennis star in the making, whose elder brother Raj is hearing impaired. Their father Akshay Sethi turns a blind eye to Raj, letting his elder son spiral into the depths of depression. Saurav decides to help his brother achieve his dream of running the marathon in the 1980 Olympics. The story set during the cold war between the US and USSR, talks about the journey of these two brothers, who embark on a rollercoaster ride that will push their courage and grit beyond all known limits.


Apart from being a writer, Iyer is also a business consultant, film maker and award winning musician. Iyer is also planning to come up with a music album based on the book.
