Leave room in your closet this summer, fashionistas. City-based designer Deepika Govind's new t-shirt line, Chutney.com, is here to perk up your wardrobe and carries an eco friendly as well.

The three collections within the line (Sporty, Vintage, and Hampi Revisited) each have their own chic Indian theme with a colour scheme to match.

"It seemed to me that the only way to communicate the flavours of India in a modern language was through the T-shirt," says Deepika.

The first flavour, Sporty, is just that: breathable polo tops designed for a moveable person. A colour palette of red, blue and white has been used to create a casual line which is reminiscent of Indian cricket and other sport teams.

In the second collectionu00a0 called Vintage, Deepika hopes to translate "tradition and modernity, the classic and the contemporary, into one piece of clothing."

The t-shirts bring up India's past with prints of famous monuments, graffiti or idioms, which are surrounded by a sepia colour and jaali detailing to complete the vintage look.

Likewise, the collection Hampi Revisited represents the modern brilliance of the ancient city of Hampi, which Govind says "is a part of the past that I wish to recall and reinvent."

Deepika captures the city's architecture, jewellery, literature and royals in rosy pink and ivory green.

As Deepika discovers new frontiers in fashion, she still keeps a long-held promise to her customers to consume as little of the environment as she can.

In the Chutney.com line, Deepika opts for cotton knits instead of polyester, nylon, or other fibres destructive to the environment. She will continue this trend as she expands the line with new 'flavours'.
