“This year, music aficionados will get a chance to hear a solo tabla performance by Shree Shubha Maharaj, grandson of Pandit Kishen Maharaj and an acclaimed tabla artist from the Banaras Gharana,” said Pandit Arvind Kumar Azad, founder of Talayan Music Circle.
It will be followed by a jugalbandi between violinist Atul Upadhye and Rajendra Kulkarni on the flute while Mukesh Jadhav will accompany them on the tabla during the jugalbandi.
“This programme is held as a tribute to my guru Pandit Kishen Maharaj. I learned under him for over 18 years. I am happy that my guru’s grandson Shree Shubha Maharaj will be performing at this event as well. It will be the first time he will perform in Pune,” added Azad.
The chief guest for the event will be Jayshri Venkatraman, the principal of DAV school, who is also a music lover. Talayan organises concerts featuring well-known performers and stalwarts as well as upcoming artists to help them gain appreciation from connoisseurs and uphold ancient traditions.
