After launching its small off-road bike, the KLX 110, for kids, Kawasaki is going to bring a similar offering for teens in India. The Japanese manufacturer is launching the KLX 140 in the country on January 22nd. Recently, the company also launched two of its motocross bikes in India: the KX100 for beginners and KX250F for profession riders. Being proper off-roaders, these motorcycles are not road-legal and can be used on off-roading tracks only.
Built on a steel perimeter frame, the mid-sized KLX 140 is powered by a 4-stroke, fuel-injected, 144cc engine. The high-revving SOHC motor comes mated to a five-speed transmission with manual clutch and gets push-button electric start as well. The bike gets 33mm telescopic forks at the front and a link-type monoshock at the rear with five-way preload adjustability. The set-up provides a travel of around 180mm at both the ends to soak up bumps without any trouble.
The Kawasaki KLX 140 comes with special off-roading tyres on durable spoke wheels, 17" front and 14" rear. Braking duties are handled by a 220mm petal disc with a dual-piston calliper at the front, while the rear gets a 186mm petal disc with single-piston calliper. The bike has a saddle height of around 780mm, which further makes it a fun to ride option for adults as well. It will be offered in a single Lime Green colour option and is expected to carry a sticker price tag of around Rs 3.5 lakh.
