Dear Diana,
I have completed my MBBS degree and I am working as an intern at a hospital. I joined a couple of months back. Recently, a new nurse joined the hospital. She's young and extremely efficient. She says she wanted to be a doctor, but as she failed to get admission in a medical college, she joined a nursing school. I have been spending a lot of time with her during hospital rounds. My eyes are always on her. When she is not working in the same shift as me, I feel upset and dejected. At times, I have even changed my shift to match her timings. I think I have a crush on her. What do I do? I want to ask her out. Should I or should I refrain from any such stuff?

Dear Paritosh,
You say you have eyes only for her, but what about the patients? Things can get awkward with the patients around, they will feel they are not being properly treated. You cannot compromise on the attention you have to give them — that is your topmost priority, and not her. You both are still young and chances are that after your internship, you may not be working at the same medical centre. You seem to have fallen for her capabilities. As she wanted to be a doctor, but could not, she might be an efficient nurse. I suggest do not end up doing something silly to become a part of the hospital gossip. At the same time, do not do anything that will cause heartbreak and pain. Also, make sure that the nurse does not get pulled up by her superior because of you. It is better that you meet her after duty hours and in hospital maintain the doctor-nurse relations.
