A photo travelogue of Ladakh

What: There are days when you are hit by wanderlust but can’t pick up your bags and hit the road. On those days, armchair travel can bring respite. Published by Niyogi Books; Ladakh: A Photo Travelogue — a graphic novel by Sohini Sen, featuring 414 photos and one map, does just that. It follows the adventures of two lady travellers in the mountainous region of Leh.

How: There are fun stories about Sen’s trip to the Nubra Valley, via Khardung La Pass (the world’s highest motorable road), to  get a glimpse of the 32-metre tall statue of Maitreya Buddha who shares the limelight with double-humped camels. The adventures also include visits to the picturesque Pangong (13,900 ft) and Tso Moriri lakes (15,075 ft) and a peek into the lives of the Changpa nomads, who inhabit land that is  inhospitable for farming The graphic novel is a fun read for all age groups.
