Samridh Bawa: It’s important for the world's largest democracy have a just constitution

As India celebrates its 73rd Republic Day today, Samridh Bawa who plays Jigar in Balika Vadhu 2 on Colors joins mid-day.com for a special conversation.

What are your thoughts and memories of Republic Day?
The first memory of Republic Day that comes to my mind would be celebrating it in my school. There was always a special assembly in which all students would gather for the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a cultural show. Everyone in my family would sit together and watch the Republic Day parade on TV.

Importance of the constitution…
It’s important for the world's largest democracy to have a just constitution in order to maintain peace and harmony in the society. We live in a country with a vast population of people having different beliefs and ideologies. Hence I think it’s important to have a constitution in place for not only laws but also for citizens to know their rights and duties.

A patriotic song or dialogue that makes you sentimental?

I think a lot of people will agree to this when I say it’s a dialogue from the movie Shershaah - ‘yeh dil maange more’. The movie makes you feel extremely proud to be an Indian and a big salute to captain Vikram Batra for the service he has provided to our nation. The movie itself is very close to my heart and I get goosebumps whenever I watch it.
