For a while now there has been buzz that small screen actors Nandish Sandhu and Rashami Desai’s marriage has gone kaput. The news came as a surprise to TV folk as well as fans of their show, Uttaran, in which they played the screen couple, Veer and Tapasaya.

Considering that they had a fairy-tale romance, there was speculation about what went wrong. With the couple preferring to be tightlipped, a common friend reveals that it was apparently marital abuse that made them part ways.

Says the source, “They began squabbling over things on the homefront as initially they were busy with their shoots. Their little tiffs later snowballed into fights. Rashami started having mood swings when the differences started cropping up. The couple’s fights became a source of gossip in their Malad neighbourhood. Later, Nandish started physically abusing Rashami and that’s when she decided to move out.”

The source adds, “After Nandish quit Uttaran, he spent a lot of time with his pals actors Arjun Bijlani and Ali Merchant (TV actress Sara Khan’s ex husband). Rashami did not like this being possessive by nature. This caused more frustration leading to Nandish indulging in verbal and physical abuse.” Nandish and Rashami had a court marriage in 2011 and in February 2012 hosted a wedding reception. The duo remained unavailable for comment.
