New Delhi: Public service broadcaster Doordarshan on Tuesday tied up with the National Council Of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to share and disseminate its archival content in the form of educational DVDs to promote arts education in schools.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organisations to initiate the process.
The project aims to bring forth a "Teachers Handbook in Dance, Music and Theatre" which will be supported by multi-media packages and DVDs," said a statement.
"This endeavour is directed towards teachers and students and will serve as multi-dimensional tool to disseminate arts in schools in an organised and effective manner," it added.
The MoU will initially be for a period of three years and could also be extended by mutual consent.
The initial phase of the project would cover theatres, national symbols, Indian classical music (vocal and instrumental) and folk music and dance.
