Rajinikanth isn't just an actor; he's a religion down South. In states like Tamil Nadu, his film release dates are nothing less than a grand festival. His fans will be celebrating a festival this week with the release of Jailer. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 10. Keeping sentiments of First Day First Show in mind, several offices in Chennai, Bengaluru etc. have announced leave for employees on Jailer's release day.

On Twitter, a company's holiday announcement on Jailer's release date caught attention. It promised to give free tickets to employees as well. The note read, "On account of the release of SUPER STAR RAJINI'S movie "JAILER" we have decided to declare holiday on 10th august 2023 in efforts to avoid piled up leave request to the HR DEPARTMENT."

It further read, "We also take the privilege of going the extra mile to support antipiracy by providing free tickets for the former to UNO AQUA employees.
One & only "SUPER STAR" for our grandfather, our Father, our generation, our son and to our grandson. Also applicable for Branches: Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani, Arapalayam & Alagappan nagar."

Jailer marks Rajinikanth's maiden collaboration with Nelson Dilipkumar. The superstar, also known as Thalaiva, returns to the silver screen after two years. He plays a retired police officer in the actioner. At the audio launch of Jailer, Rajinikanth spoke about not signing any film after Annaatthe. He said, "After Annaatthe, I listened to many scripts but I didn’t like any. And stopped the process altogether and thought let’s see about it later. Then I was told by Kannan of Sun Pictures, who is a friend of Nelson, that he (Nelson) has a story for me. By then, Nelson was shooting for Beast in North India. So, I waited till he returned. When he finally came back, I asked to set a time and asked if 10 am would be fine. Kannan said Nelson gets up pretty late as he sleeps late. I was like what’s this behaviour even before the start of the film. Then he finally set a time around 11:30."

Jailer also stars Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah Bhatia, Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi and Vinayakan. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has a cameo in Jailer. A poster featuring the legendary actors was unveiled. Sharing it, the makers wrote, "Superstar - Lalettan. Yarellam indha combo paaka waiting? 5 days to go for #Jailer storm in theatres! #JailerFromAug10."

Jailer's song titled Kaavaalaa featuring Tamannaah has set the internet on fire. Fans are creating reels on Instagram with the song. Composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the music of Jailer is being received well.
