A bench of justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma granted relief to Siddique subject to conditions that he will surrender his passport and cooperate in the investigation of the case. The top court, however, said that it would not give elaborate reasons while granting anticipatory bail to Siddique considering the sensitivity of the case. It took note of the delay in lodging the FIR in the matter as the complainant had filed the complaint almost eight years after the alleged incident and created the posts on Facebook somewhere in 2018. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who appeared for the petitioner, had raised questions on the delay in the FIR and apprised the court that she had made allegations against other people too. Insisting the top court grant him bail, Siddique's counsel said that he would not run away anywhere and also said that d that the actor had met the complainant once in a preview of the movie. Senior Advocate Ranjit Kumar, appearing for the Kerala Government, said that why the victim was invited for the preview of a film which is an event attended by few people only who is invited. Advocate Vrinda Grover for the victim said it takes immense courage for a woman to come forward and speak about the rape incident. Malayalam cine actor Siddique has approached the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a rape case. Earlier Kerala Police issued a lookout notice against actor Siddique, suspecting he may have fled the state in connection with the ongoing investigation into a rape case. The notice has been issued to all district police chiefs in Kerala as well as the police chiefs of all states. Actor Siddique is allegedly on the run after the Kerala High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail application. The case is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team of the Kerala government. The museum police in Thiruvananthapuram registered a case against Siddique on August 27 under charges of rape and criminal intimidation, based on the complaint filed by a young actor. However, Siddique has categorically denied the allegation. The Malayalam film industry has recently been rocked by a "Me Too" movement exposing various allegations of sexual abuse. Following the allegations, Siddique resigned from his position as general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Consequently, the entire 17-member executive committee of AMMA also resigned. In his note, he wrote in Bengali, “Durga from 'Pather Panchali' is now really gone.” Chiranjit confirms Uma’s death The death of the actress was also confirmed by actor Chiranjit Chakraborty, as per Times Now. The news portal shared that Chakraborty received the heart-wrenching news from Uma Dasgupta’s daughter. Reportedly, Uma never worked in mainstream cinema after delivering an iconic performance in Satyajit Ray’s directorial 'Pather Panchali'. About Uma Dasgupta The 84-year-old actor, who had been suffering from cancer for a long time, is survived by her daughter, they said. Having been cast in the role of Durga in 'Pather Panchali', adapted from the eponymous novel by writer Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhyay, at the age of 14, Dasgupta won the hearts of audiences worldwide for her portrayal of the character, immortalizing scenes like being drenched in the rain and picking up mangoes in an orchard after a nor'wester with her little brother, Apu. Dasgupta was noticed by Satyajit Ray during her stage performance as a child artist in a school function, and the director got in touch with her school and family. Despite the worldwide acclaim and applause for her role in 'Pather Panchali', she retreated into her private space and was never seen in any other film later on. She was a teacher by profession. It was just last year when American filmmaker Martin Scorsese talked about watching the dubbed version of 'Pather Panchali'. The couple had reached out to Dhanush to get permission to use footage from the film for the documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond the fairytale'. When Dhanush did not respond, they went ahead and used 3-second of the footage for which the Tamil actor sued them with a Rs 10 crore notice. This also led to fan wars on social media with some Dhanush fans accusing Nayanthara of ignoring loss incurred by Dhanush over the footage's use. Amid this, an old video of Dhanush talking about Nayanthara has gone viral. In an old video, Dhanush is seen talking about Nayanthara and referring to her as his friend. He revealed that she did a cameo in his film 'Ethir Neechal' for free. The film was released in 2013 and was produced by Dhanush. The film starred Sivakarthikeyan, Priya Anand and Nandita Swetha in the lead.
