After Malayalam movie 'Premam', it is now newly released Kamal Haasan-starrer Tamil blockbuster 'Papanasam' which is facing the menace of piracy.

The pirated copies of the movie, directed by Jeethu Joseph, were found uploaded in some of the online sites within two days of its release in theatres.

Joseph said he had discussed the issue with Haasan and the movie's producer Suresh Balaji, who will lodge a complaint with the anti-piracy wing of Tamil Nadu police today.

"It is really shocking that the pirated copies of the movie have been uploaded in many online sites soon after its release. We will surely take up the issue and fight it legally," Joseph told PTI.

"Kamal Haasan and Suresh Balaji are expected to lodge a complaint with the cyber cell and anti-piracy wing of Tamil Nadu police today itself," he said.

A remake of Mohanlal-starrer all-time mega hit "Drishyam", helmed by Jeethu Joseph, "Papanasam" has Gauthami, Asha Sarath and Kalabhavan Mani in prominent roles besides Haassan. The movie, a thriller drama, revolves around the murder of a youth and further developments.

Joseph said they had already sought the help of a private company to monitor the cyber space to check any attempt to upload the copies of the movie on internet.

"The company has found that the links of the movie have been uploaded in some of the sites. But they can only remove those uploads but have no capacity to take action against those behind the act," he said.

The "My Boss" and "Memories" director also wanted stern action to check piracy and save the film industry.

The movie piracy recently triggered concerns in Kerala after pirated copies of the movie of Alphonse Puthren directed "Premam", which is running into packed houses in the state, were found uploaded in some of the online sites.

The anti-piracy cell of Kerala police carried out a series of raids and had questioned several persons including the Censor Board officials here following allegation that pirated copy of the movie had been leaked from the Board.

Police said they would also interrogate the employees of a Chennai-based studio, owned by Bollywood filmmaker Priyadarshan, based on allegation that the copy of the movie was leaked from there.
