Lizzo, the Grammy-winning Hollywood singer known for her chart-topping hits like 'Boys,' 'About Damn Time,' and 'Good as Hell,' finds herself embroiled in controversy. The empowering icon, who has been a symbol of body positivity and inclusivity, is facing legal trouble as her former backup dancer, Arianna Davis, files a lawsuit against her, alleging weight-shaming and sexual harassment.

Arianna Davis, a former backup dancer and hip-hop teacher, rose to fame after appearing on the Emmy-winning reality TV show, 'Watch out for the Big Grrrls.' Lizzo personally handpicked her to be a part of her dance team, acknowledging Arianna's natural talent and dedication to her craft. In September 2022, Arianna embarked on an exciting journey as part of Lizzo's touring crew.

Since then, two other dancers have come forward and joined Arianna in filing a lawsuit against Lizzo. The allegations include claims of Lizzo fostering a hostile work environment through sexual, racial, and religious harassment. One of the accusations involves Lizzo's dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, who allegedly scrutinized those engaging in premarital intercourse and imposed her Christian beliefs on other dancers. Shirlene is also accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct, such as simulating oral sex and sharing explicit sexual fantasies. The lawsuit even mentions her discussing a performer's virginity.

The defendants named in the suit are Lizzo, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., and Shirlene. The claims put forward include sexual harassment, creation of a hostile work environment, false imprisonment, and interference with prospective economic advantage. It is important to note that each claim was not brought against every defendant.

Lawyer Ron Zambrano, representing the plaintiffs, expressed shock at the contrast between Lizzo's public image of empowerment and the alleged mistreatment of her performers behind the scenes. He stated that the way Lizzo and her management team supposedly treated their dancers goes against everything she stands for publicly, and the weight-shaming and demeaning behavior they are accused of are not only illegal but also deeply demoralizing.

The situation has undoubtedly put a spotlight on Lizzo's character and the dynamics within her touring crew. As the legal proceedings unfold, the public awaits further developments to understand the truth behind these serious allegations.
