Beyonce Knowles' new surprise album has broken iTunes sales records by selling 828,773 copies in just three days.
The majority of these sales came in the US, where it has racked up 617,213 sales since its release, the BBC reported.

The new sales record broke Beyonce’s own first-week sales record with her second album ‘B’day’ released in 2006, which sold 541,000 copies in a week.
The success of the self-titled album has been attributed to a number of factors including keeping the project secret, avoiding leaks and the inability to purchase individual tracks online because of which fans had no choice but to pay for the entire album.
