After three days of wedding celebrations, which included a colourful Mehendi ceremony, a friendly cricket match and a glitzy, lively and power-packed 'desi' musical evening, Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra married American singer Nick Jonas on December 1, 2018, at the royal Umaid Bhawan Palace. The pre-wedding festivities of Priyanka Chopra and American singer Nick Jonas were no less than a Bollywood event with a stage, elaborate light set-up and props as well as energetic performances. Priyanka looked every bit the 'desi girl' in a bright multi-coloured and festive lehenga choli for her Mehendi ceremony
For their grand sangeet ceremony, Priyanka Chopra looked absolutely stunning in an Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla sari - quite reminiscent of her "Desi girl" look. "It all began as a fierce song and dance competition between the families, but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the sangeet (musical evening), another pre-wedding ritual and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends. Grateful," Priyanka wrote alongside the sangeet ceremony photos
The sky in Jodhpur was lit up with fireworks to celebrate Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' nuptials on December 1, 2018, at the royal Umaid Bhawan Palace. The couple exchanged wedding bands by Chopard and wedding vows at a Catholic wedding officiated by the groom's father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr
Priyanka was a glowing bride in a custom-made Ralph Lauren wedding gown, and Jonas, too, wore Ralph Lauren. In fact, so did both families, all of the bridesmaids, and all of the groomsmen who included Priyanka's brother Siddharth and Nick's three brothers, Joe, Kevin and Frankie
Ralph Lauren is an important designer to the couple not only because he is a close friend of Priyanka Chopra, but also because she and Nick both rocked Ralph Lauren outfits at the 2017 Met Gala, which took place one week after their unofficial first date
Priyanka Chopra, who said "I do" wearing a 75 ft long veil for her Christian wedding ceremony with Nick Jonas, said she was nervous and scared before the nuptials. But her worries flew away when she saw her groom waiting for her down the aisle
"Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day. But I never had a plan about what I wanted it to be," people.com quoted Priyanka
On December 2, 2018, the bride and groom continued their epic wedding weekend with a Hindu ceremony. For the Hindu wedding ceremony on Sunday, Priyanka sported a deep red lehenga, choli and dupatta. She looked like the quintessential 'desi' bride with the chooda, kaleerein and garland. Nick was dressed in a sherwani and a turban
Priyanka looked breathtaking in her traditional red wedding outfit. "Nick did a beautiful job following the customs of a Hindu ceremony. It was lovely seeing how they honoured both of their heritages," an insider said
From their 'roka' ceremony in August 2018 to their wedding, Nick Jonas embraced Indian traditions wholeheartedly. Priyanka too ensured an occasion like Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas and others are celebrated like it's meant to with Nick's family
"One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each others' faiths and cultures. And so, planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so amazing," Priyanka and Nick wrote on their respective Instagram pages on December 1 when they shared glimpses of their wedding ceremonies.
As for Nick, "the emotions were running high during the ceremonies", especially during the Western wedding. "You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional," said Nick Jonas.
Wearing a hand-beaded and embroidered Ralph Lauren gown with a 75-foot long veil, Priyanka looked ethereal as she was escorted down the aisle by her mother Madhu. "It was all tears. All tears. I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life," Priyanka Chopra told People magazine.
They concluded their wedding weekend with a Bidaai, a bridal ritual. "I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up," said the actress.
"We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalised them in a way that made sense for us. It's been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way."
The couple first began talking in 2016 via Twitter, and met in person for the first time at a party for the Academy Awards in 2017. Priyanka Chopra changed her name to Priyanka Chopra Jonas on December 6, 2018.
Here's wishing Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas on their second wedding anniversary!
