Shveta forayed into Bollywood with the film Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi (1999), which was also the debut of a number of actors including Rinke Khanna, Sanjay Suri, Dino Morea and Akashdeep Saigal. The film, however, didn't do well at the box office. Shveta has worked in other films like Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke (2010), Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011), Lanka (2011) and Marathi film - Kurukshetra (2013).
Shveta later appeared in TV series like Kittie Party, Kahin Kissi Roz, and also had a brief role in the hugely popular Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin. Shveta participated and was the runner-up in the first season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (2006), in which she was paired with choreographer Longinus Fernandes.

Shveta Salve turned the tide on Instagram by posting images of her baby bump in a bikini. While she was trolled for flaunting her baby bump in an "indecent" manner, Salve didn't give heed to the criticism.
The Left Right Left actress hit back at haters saying: "I don't pay for likes and followers, you choose to follow me for who I am. And hence what you see is me being me and you always have the option to unfollow me. Live and Let Live."
In a collage shared by Shveta of herself flaunting her baby bump and a picture of herself with her baby, she had written, "Miracle is the first word that comes to my mind... It still feels like only yesterday she was inside me. I felt you from the inside and today I hold you in my arms and can actually feel you and touch you with my hands..."
"A woman's body is Magical and no wonder great artists, sculptors, poets, painters have in so many ways tried to beautify it... But it achieves its true form of praise after this transformation," continued Shveta.

In 2018, Shveta was trolled for posting a picture of herself smoking and with a wine glass in hand. She, however, took the trolls head-on and wrote, "Yes I Drink and Smoke... I am real, honest and basic like that. It has to be of no reason that anyone ever judge me for the person I am or the Mommy I am... I don't propagate it and neither do I question anyone else who does, so I would respect the same back."
She further said, "How does this make me a bad person or a bad mom?? Do you see me wasting my Life? Do you see me sitting unemployed n jobless? Do you see me neglecting my child? I work, I work multiple jobs, I'm an actor, dancer, an entrepreneur." As of now, reports suggest Shweta Salve owns and runs a restaurant in Goa, India.
