With Bollywood growing out of its candy-floss romances in favour of realistic love stories, Tamannaah Bhatia believes that her next, 'Bole Chudiyan', is a step in the right direction. The actor, glad to be part of the changing landscape of cinema, says, “[Earlier] there was a lot of focus on conventionally good-looking people being part of movies. Now, the focus has shifted to the kind of performer you are. What matters now is whether you suit the role, rather than the idea of how a quintessential hero or heroine should look. It is a healthy [change]. This way, you can tell more stories that are believable and relatable.”

Set in Uttar Pradesh, Shamas Siddiqui-directed 'Bole Chudiyan' narrates the tender love story of a bangle-seller and a village girl. As much as she cherished the prospect of bringing an unconventional romance to the screen, the bigger draw for Bhatia was her co-star — Nawazuddin Siddiqui. “He is a simple and easy-going person, so it was easy to interact with him. When you work with actors who [enable] a seamless give-and-take equation, it’s a deeply gratifying experience,” she says.
