Bollywood singer Shaan is known to have one of the most soothing and charming voices. His ballad Tanha Dil is for the ages and he’s known to have lent his voice to films like Raju Chacha, Hum Tum, Fanaa, Hungama, Partner, Jab We Met, and 3 idiots. He has been one of the most successful and popular singers in Bollywood.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, when he was asked about his comparatively lesser professional assignments, this is what the singer had to say, “The younger heroes want newer voices, but I have a connection with the older generation, so perhaps I don't have a connect with the current generation.”

He added, “I went from two recordings a week, to two a month, to two a year, and that's when I decided I'm going to take things into my own hands, and I started a music label, and I put original songs on YouTube.”

When asked about the idea of staying relevant, the singer stated, “It shouldn't sound like I'm putting out the same old material... I've been able to not be typecast. I don't think about not being as active as before, I think of it as someone losing out by not hiring me."

Also, in an exclusive chat with mid-day, Shaan poured his heart out and said, "I have stopped receiving the kind of playback singing offers I would get earlier. But I have no regrets or qualms about it." Shaan has spent relatively 25 years in the film industry and says that the young and new talent should be given a chance. "When I entered the industry, I was new too, and there were already renowned singers existing. Now, I've spent 25 years that I've lent my voice to the film industry. The new talent and singers are given priority and I completely understand the process."

However, he says that we should make the most of our time. "Now, I've started to practise singing even more now. I have participated in various reality shows, dance shows, films. This way, I have done all that I ever wanted to do."
