R Balki has been spending lockdown at his Bandra home fine-tuning the script of his next directorial venture starring Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan. The filmmaker is said to be undecided about the female lead. As he is keen to film against the backdrop of heavy rain for the thriller, he plans to shoot during the monsoon. Depending on the prevailing situation, Balki is looking at rolling the film in July in the city. The film marks Salmaan’s third outing in Bollywood after Karwaan (2018) and The Zoya Factor (2019).

The film is said to be a thriller, a genre Balki is keen to explore. Knowing Balki’s penchant for casting Amitabh Bachchan in his films, we can safely assume that Big B will also be part of the project in some capacity.

He is now waiting for the release of his upcoming film, 'Kurup'. The movie, titled ‘Kurup’ is about India’s longest wanted fugitive, and it is based on the life of the infamous fugitive Sukumara Kurup. He also has 'Hey Sinamika' in the pipeline, which is in the post-production phase.
