Pagglait will see a digital release soon. This will be Sanya's third release on OTT after Ludo and Shakuntala Devi. The film was announced in November 2019 and the shoot was wrapped up in two months. The film has been directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment.
"So thrilled to announce this film which is very close to my heart on my special day. I essay the role of Sandhya, a character very different from what I have previously portrayed on-screen," Sanya said.
"My Pagglait journey was Pagglait indeed- and I can't wait for the world to witness this unique story very soon," she added. Malhotra delivered a massive success in the form of Badhaai Ho in 2018 that made people sit up and notice the performer that she is. In the same year, she had Vishal Bhardwaj's Pataakha.
Badhaai Ho was one of the most successful movies of 2018 and also won the National Award for the Best Film in 2019 for its unconventional storyline and impactful yet convincing performances. Touted to be a thorough entertainer, the movie rightfully justified every character’s emotions. Sanya and Ayushmann’s refreshing chemistry won the audiences hearts.
