Actress Mrunal Thakur, who has proved her acting mettle over the years, revealed that she had to drop several projects since her parents disapproved of her doing kissing scenes.

In an interview with iDiva, Mrunal said, “As much as I wanted to do a film, I had to drop because there was a kissing scene involved. As an actor, you need to be ready because sometimes that’s the demand (of the scene). If you are not comfortable, you can tell, you can talk about it but I kept missing on films because of that."

She also asserted being uncomfortable doing intimate scenes. “I would just get scared, I’d just say no to a film, but how long could I say no? There was a point I had to sit down with my parents and tell them ‘Papa, I cannot miss a part because sometimes it’s there, it’s not my choice’.” said Mrunal.

From a TV sensation to a Bollywood diva, Mrunal Thakur has seen unprecedented growth in a decade of her acting career. The actress is best known for her TV show – ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ – as well as her acting chops in films such as ‘Super 30’, ‘Batla House’, ‘Ghost Stories’, ‘Jersey’, and ‘Sita Ramam’, which has developed a massive fan following across the globe.

Meanwhile, Mrunal was recently seen in 'The Family Star' which also starred actor Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. Directed by Parasuram Petla, 'Family Star' marked the first collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. Produced by Dil Raju, this multilingual release (Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi) was released in theatres on April 5, 2024.

Talking about doing a rom-com for the first time, she told IANS, "I had never thought this film would be received like this. I have never done a rom-com before. So this is my first and people are loving it. They love the songs. I really enjoyed doing comedy. All my previous roles were serious and hectic. Working on this film was really like a breeze for me.”

Mrunal Thakur will next be seen in the film titled 'Pooja Meri Jaan' helmed by Navjot Gulati and Vipasha Arvind with Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz in key roles.
