Sidharth Malhotra has been shooting for Mission Majnu, a spy thriller set in the ’70s, in Lucknow since February. Filming at live locations comes with the risk of injury. As luck would have it, the actor severely injured his knee while performing a stunt last week.

It is heard that Malhotra was executing a jump under the supervision of director Shantanu Bagchi and action director Ravi Verma when he slipped and hit his knee on metal. A source reveals, “Though there was no immediate bleeding or swelling, he was in excruciating pain. The director immediately called for medical attention. While there was talk of holding off the day’s shoot, Malhotra took the advised medication and ice compression to alleviate the pain, and went on to finish his portions.”

The source adds that the actor did not want the film’s shoot, which is in its penultimate schedule, to grind to a halt on his account. “He continued filming for the next three days to ensure that they meet the deadline. Since the location has been re-designed to reflect the ’70s aesthetics, Sidharth knew that recreating the set-up would be tough and expensive.”
